Faith.
On Sept. 11, 2001 my faith was rocked. As a recent publicly confessing Christian I began questioning if God was truly Good. Hours of prayer and searching the Scriptures I came to this conclusion: Not only is He Good, but He is Lord; and I would spend the rest of my life committing to His Word and Purpose for my life.
I embarked on an a summer missions experience in Big River, California that forever changed me. I grew spiritually, came into my own as a leader, and even met the girl of my dreams that I would marry three years later.
The defining call on my life that year came from Isaiah 6:8: “I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, And who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’
Family.
A country boy meets a city girl. And writes her a letter.
Yep, that’s how it all began. Joshua and Laura met in Riverside, CA during his summer missions experience. For him it was love at first sight. For her it was love at first write.
Joshua grew up in the backwoods of Kentucky raising cattle, pumpkins and tobacco while Laura grew up just outside of Phoenix in the dry heat of the desert. And as fate would have it they managed to cross paths at a youth camp at California Baptist University. And the rest was history.
After returning back to Kentucky Joshua wrote Laura a letter which led to a phone call which led to spending time together which led to the greatest love story never told.
Fast forward nearly 20 years and three kiddos later, their journey has not just been memorable, but their oldest daughter, Ashlee, claims she’s going to make their story into a Hallmark Movie one day.
Business.
On July 11, 2013 there was as shift in the world. It was the day that Soulheart was born.
Joshua left a stable job at a $100M Nonprofit to pursue a lifelong dream of starting a business before he turned 30. After years of failed attempts to double-dip with a full-time marketing job and freelance gigs, Joshua and Laura heard a sermon that would forever change them.
Pastor Craig Groschel of Life.Church said these words: “To step toward your destiny, you have to step away from your security.”
That was the moment that will forever define Joshua because he did the unthinkable, resigned from the job he loved and built a thriving business from the corner of his bedroom. Soulheart has since gone on to be headquartered in Phoenix, employing staff all across the country and serving clients all around the world.
Joshua is passionate about marketing, business, and investing. He’s since started multiple businesses through Soulheart Ventures, a resident venture fund designed to incubate new businesses and products, and he’s had one exit.
